We all know this saying: “Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a night. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat forever.” But as it turns out, the scope of that adage is a bit narrow. That’s because this golden retriever named Rani loves to fish, too!

You can see her in action in the video below. She uses bait and everything!

Rani has used this method to capture dozens of fish and turtles over the years. There’s something pretty adorable about a self-sufficient pup, am I right?

If you ask me, there are worse things than being surrounded by 7,000 square feet of cake. Birthdays aren’t the same without it, and people young and old go absolutely nuts over the stuff.

So why not build a structure out of everyone’s favorite dessert and cover it from floor to ceiling with pink frosting? If that sounds like something you’d be into, check this out. For an immersive project called Break Bread LA, artist Scott Hove brings this sugary fantasy to life (and he does it with a twist).

Covering a 7,000-square-foot space with cake sounds sweet, but Hove’s latest Cakeland is full of dark surprises.

According to the artist, his cake creations tend to resonate with viewers in a unique way as they continue to experience his work.

When you first enter the sprawling space, you’re stunned by the utter pinkness of it all. Everything from the cherries to the piped white icing seems pretty standard.

var OX_ads = OX_ads || []; OX_ads.push({ slot_id: “537251602_56eb95d92f9e0”, auid: “537251602” });

But when you take a closer look, you quickly discover something surprisingly dark. “To contrast the bougie cake look,” he writes, “I collect items that have an inherent violence, but beauty at the same time.”

“That’s why I choose things like switchblades and wolf jaws. Even though they are plastic, they possess a fierce quality that affects us on a very deep level.”

Had someone with less scope taken on the project, this installation could easily have fallen flat. Hove’s tendency to blur the line between sinister and sweet, however, makes for a dynamic presentation.

Break Bread LA is actually a collaborative effort between Scott Hove and watercolor artist Baker’s Son, so if you want to learn more about the installation, check this out:
